What started as a small group of believers with a shared hunger for a richer relationship with Christ has grown into The Gathering. We began simply, meeting in a home, united by our passion for knowing Jesus more deeply and living out His mission together.
Today, our gatherings are filled with faith and expectation. We trust God’s timing as we pray for our next meeting location He will provide, a place where our church family can continue to grow, worship, and serve.
Our story is one of faith, community, and joy witnessing the Lord build something that is, rooted in Him, growing together, and reaching out in love.
Our passion statements reflect what drives us as a church, our deepest commitments to Christ, community, and mission. They guide how we live, worship, and serve, keeping us focused on what truly matters. These passions shape everything we do as we seek to honor God and love others.
- Above all else, direction, giftings, mission, we seek His holy presence in our lives and in the lives of others. (Psalm 27:4, Acts 2:42)
- We are a people marked by sincere devotion, eager pursuit of Jesus, and wholehearted discipleship, never content with spiritual complacency. (Revelation 3:15-16, Philippians 3:12-14, John 8:31, 1 John 2:6, John 15:1-8)
- We emphasize and put great value on the Word of God, worship and prayer. (1 Thessalonians 5:1, Hebrews 13:15, Psalm 30:4, Hebrews 4:12, Isaiah 55:11)
- We long to be tender to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, balancing both order and sensitivity to His movement. (John 14:26)
- We walk in Spirit and Truth, firmly rooted in God’s Word, honoring all persons of the Trinity, growing in the fruit of the Spirit, welcoming and developing the gifts of the Spirit. (John 4:24, 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, 2 Timothy 3:16, Galatians 5:21-22, Acts 2:42)
- The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord, and it will guide all leadership decisions and spiritual direction. (Proverbs 9:10, James 3:17 Colossians 3:23-24, Galatians 1:10)
- We look to the early Church in Acts 2 as our example, a people deeply devoted to worship, Christ-centered teaching of the Word, prayer, community, and the shared life of faith, stirring one another up in love and good works. (Acts 2:42-47, Ephesians 4:15-16)
- We believe in 1 Corinthians 12: the Church is one body with many parts. Each part is essential and valuable. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27, Ephesians 4:11-13)
- In the Kingdom of God, every role matters. We do not measure worth by title or position. We all have something to offer for the building up of the church. No one is greater than another. (Romans 12:4-8, Philippians 2:3-4)
- In disagreements, we don’t “agree to disagree,” but prayerfully and humbly come together to seek peace and wisdom asking God through His Spirit and Word, recognizing that some matters remain veiled in mystery. (James 1:5, Proverbs 3:5-6, Philippians 2:2, Acts 2:1NKJV)
- We are committed to growing not only in our own spiritual readiness but also the equipping of the Saints. Building up one another in Holy Faith that we may boldly stand firm in the authority, declaring Christ's victory over all forms of spiritual warfare. (Ephesians 6:10-20)
- We believe in a team of pastors who guide the church. While there may be a team/lead pastor, he is surrounded by fellow pastors who mutually hold one another accountable. (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9)
- Additionally, we recognize the importance of accountability for all that serve in an area of influence within the church. We emphasize the importance of surrounding ourselves with other leaders that mutually build up and hold one another accountable. (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, Exodus 18:21)
- Leaders will model discipleship from the top down. They recognize that they are given the responsibility to steward well, the calling the Lord has, on their lives and should set the example to their flock. (1 Peter 5:2-3, Hebrews 13:7)
Footnote: We recognize the office of leadership and the qualifications described in 1 Timothy and Titus, because of this we humbly confront sin and take necessary steps towards growth and forgiveness knowing this may or may not mean continuing/or restoration to the same role. Galatians 6:1-2, Ephesians 4:15, James 5:16, Philippians 3:12-14, Matthew 18:15-17 James 3:1
- Jesus’ final command to His followers was clear: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations... teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” We emphasize not only leading others to Christ, but seeking to walk alongside brothers and sisters as we seek the things above by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19 –20 Colossians 3:1–2 Galatians 5:25)
- Spiritual maturity happens in relationship, through which we practice and experience the “one anothers” in scripture. Seeing His faithfulness in and through His people, we grow to love and serve Him more deeply. (1 Corinthians 11:1)
- We take joy in emphasizing mature multigenerational discipleship. (Titus 2:3-5, 2 Kings 2:2, 2 Timothy 1:2-4)
- We recognize sanctification is the work of the Holy Spirit, but we walk with one another, holding each other to the standard found in scripture and joining in the work of the spirit to set tangible boundaries and accountability to help guide each other in righteousness. (Galatians 6:1-2, 2 Thessalonians 2:13, Proverbs 27:17, Hebrews 10:25)
- Church gatherings are a safe space for vulnerability, humility, and honesty. Freedom to respond openly to the Spirit of God. (Psalm 34:18, 2 Corinthians 12:9-10)
- The church is a safe place for unbelievers or those in doubt to come, learn, ask questions, and be loved. (Romans 15:7, John 6:37, Romans 8:1)
- We believe the body of Christ is called to be alive and active, reflecting Jesus through love in action, not merely attending, but participating in glorifying the Father. ( Romans 12:4-11, 1 Peter 4:10-11)
- We aim to be transparent, honest, and trustworthy, holding open meetings and inviting devoted members to speak. (Ephesians 4:25, Proverbs 27:17)
